Description

Cotton Waffle is a 100% cotton fabric woven in a distinctive honeycomb structure — a grid of raised squares that gives the fabric its characteristic textured surface and tactile depth. At 250gsm it has a solid, substantial weight with a soft hand feel, making it well suited to towels, bathrobes, kitchen textiles, blankets, and casual garments where texture is part of the appeal.

The waffle weave creates natural surface interest that works particularly well with simple, graphic designs and light-to-mid colour palettes. Because the raised structure of the fabric creates small recessed areas between the squares, solid dark fills — deep navy, black, dark brown — will show lighter patches where ink does not fully reach the lower points of the weave. For best print results, designs with lighter backgrounds, open compositions, or mid-tone colour ranges are strongly recommended. Bold graphic elements, patterns, and illustrative artwork all perform well on this fabric when the colour palette is considered accordingly.

Best for

Bath towels and hand towels, kitchen towels and dishcloths, bathrobes and spa textiles, lightweight blankets and throws, casual garments and loungewear.

Design tips

Light and mid-tone backgrounds work best — white, cream, pastels, and medium saturations.
Avoid large areas of solid dark colour. Deep fills will appear uneven due to the recessed texture of the waffle weave.

Graphic patterns, botanical prints, geometric designs, and illustrative artwork all perform well when the palette stays in the light-to-mid range.

High-contrast designs with dark accents on a light background are a good compromise if darker tones are needed in the composition.

Care instructions

• Wash on a regular machine cycle at 30 °C.
• Do not bleach.
• Do not dryclean.
• Tumble drying on a low heat.
• Iron on reverse side at a lower heat setting not using steam.
